Care to be Different is an information website set up by Angela after her own parents’ experience of the UK care system.
Based in Buckinghamshire, Angela challenged the NHS twice on its decisions to force both of her parents to pay for nursing care – and won, first for her mother, then a second time for her father.
She developed Care to be Different as a specialist information resource, providing practical information about NHS Continuing Healthcare funding and other care matters.
I heard Angela speak at the Institute of Financial Planning annual conference in Newport last year, and she’s been on my guest list since then. I’m really pleased to bring you this interview today.
In this episode of Informed Choice Radio, I speak to Angela who pays for long-term care, the lack of awareness surrounding NHS Continuing Healthcare, how serious your health needs to be in order to qualify for NHS funding, and much more.
Welcome to Care to be Different with Angela Sherman, in episode 147 of Informed Choice Radio.
Some questions I ask
-More people all need some form of care in later life, who pays for that care?
-Is there a lack of awareness around continuing health care?
-What does the typical process look like for this continuing health care assessment, how does someone intriguer it in the first place?
-What do families have to look out for during the assessment process?
-What are the moral arguments about claiming NHS care?
